| Chess Club | Jeff Benjamin | The chess team is open to anyone in grades 7-12. We start in late October and end around Mid-March. We play matches against other schools throughout the CHL and the city. We have both a varsity and a reserve team. The days we meet will be discussed at our first meeting (listen for the announcements and watch for the posted signs around the building as we get near the end of October). You will improve your chess game or for those that are beginners, you will learn the rules and etiquette of chess. In practices, we play against one another to improve and learn. Sometimes we also experience problem solving by being given certain positions to setup on the board and try to find the best move on the board to play. Please consider joining our team and expect to have friendly competition. |
| Chick-fil-A Leader Academy | Suzy Beck | Want to make an impact in the community through action? Join the Chick Fil A Leadership Academy! In this club, you will fine tune your leadership skills while giving back to your community. Spaces are limited in this club and an application is required. |
| Color Guard | Brenda Livingston | The color guard students are a vital part of the band's marching ensemble. They practice year round and are admitted to the team via a successful tryout. Their coach is Mrs. Brenda Livingston who by day is one of our amazing Kindergarten teachers in district. These girls express the music played by the band visually with the use of various equipment mediums (flags, poi, rifles, air blades and sabers). The Marching Band would not be the success they are without this group of talented individuals and their tireless coach. |
| Communiserve | Tim Hubbard | At Deer Park Schools, we strive to teach our students the importance of giving back to our families, friends, and communities. At the high school level, students have the opportunity to join Communiserve, a community service club. Throughout the year, the club participates in a number of service learning projects such as the annual Holiday Food Drive, the Over-the-Rhine Senior Center, and Our Daily Bread. |
| Drama Club | Rachel Hackney | Drama Club is a long running club at Deer Park high school that is experiencing a renaissance. After a 6 year hiatus, the club was re-established a few years ago and has grown from a small group of 10 students to a group of 30+ actors and stage crew. In the past the Drama Club only allowed high school students to participate. However, three years ago we expanded to allow the junior high the opportunity to join. The Fall Play acts as our major production of the year and typically is performed near the end of November. We also participate in Parkers by writing and performing our own scripts. |
| Homework Club | Various teachers | Junior high, 9th grade, and various math teachers have opened up a tutoring lab after school from 3-4 PM. This is for any high school student to receive additional help with their courses or to use the laptops for assignments. This tutoring lab is run by our teachers but available for all students to work on any subject (Math, English, History, etc.). |
| Hope Squad | Ally Stiller, Heather Gill, & Elizabeth Moore | Hope Squad is a school-based, peer-to-peer, suicide prevention program that emphasizes suicide prevention fundamentals, self-care and anti-bullying. The purpose of a Hope Squad is to improve access and availability to appropriate prevention services for youth who are at risk for suicide. The Hope Squad functions as a peer support team with the goal of providing friendship, encouragement, and support for students in our school who may be struggling. Hope Squad members are nominated by their classmates as trustworthy peers and trained by advisors. Hope Squad also spreads HOPE and brings awareness to our school and community about mental health in addition to suicide prevention. |
| International Club | Kristina Ligons | Members of the Deer Park High School International Club learn about the world outside the classroom by traveling to places both native to Cincinnati such as the Findlay Market and to places outside of the country. |
| National Honor Society | Kevin Moulton | Students in the 11th and 12th grade students must be scholastically eligible to become a member of Deer Park High School’s National Honor Society. Interested students enter a selection process, which requires candidates to provide information relating to their experiences with the four pillars of NHS: character, scholarship, leadership, and service. |
| Newspaper | Tim Hubbard | The Deer Parker is the monthly newspaper of Deer Park High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. The publication is student run and created as part of the Writing for Publication course. The staff is dedicated to reporting the most recent news from Deer Park schools and community. |
| Photography Club | Sean Maher | Any students 9-12, after school every other Tuesday, 3-4 PM. The members will work on developing techniques for those who shoot as a camera as well as smart phones. Students share images, edit images, comment on images, and shoot images during class. Each meeting are given 3-4 new techniques to try/work on. |
| Show Choir | Matt Suddendorf | The DPHS Show Choir is the ensemble that brings contemporary and classic pop music to life through its performances. The Show Choir will also often incorporate choreography, adding another element to our performances. The group is made up of both male and female performers, and allows students to extend their vocal range to meet the needs of their changing voices. Currently, this is the only high school vocal ensemble available to male singers, so some class time is dedicated to learning techniques and singing music specifically tailored to the male voice. If you are interested in singing and dancing to some of the best Pop music, then the HS Show Choir is the place to be! |
| Step-Up Club | Jason Spelic | As middle school students transition into adolescence and young adulthood, they are faced with a plethora of challenges from peer pressure to the ability to make responsible decisions. In an effort to better prepare the students of Deer Park for the challenges that wait, the Step-Up helps students develop these necessary skills. In the program, students work with peers and an advisor to gain knowledge of: Decision making, community leadership, anti-bullying mentality, and citizenship. There is no membership or sign-up process. Please listen for announcements for meetings and/or ask Mr. Spelic for the Schoology access code! |

Student Council is a group of students who represent each grade level (9-12), for the purposes of making school wide and class specific decisions. As a group, they work to plan spirit weeks, Homecoming themes and floats, pep rallies, Scarlet and Gray day themes and posters, dances (Juniors plan prom/Seniors plan Homecoming) among other things. They also organize and run a blood drive in conjunction with Hoxworth Blood Donation Centers.

| Yearbook (High School) | Rachel Hackney | Yearbook is both a club and a class open to students in grades 9 to 12. In the past three years, the club has grown from one student to over 20. They work to create the Deer Park annual Antlers, a 136-page record of the school year, from top to bottom, choosing a theme and design elements, creating and designing spreads and pages, selling and creating ads, marketing and selling the yearbooks, taking photos, writing copy, etc. Additionally, the members of the club study elements of publishing and journalism, marketing, and sales. Club members work hard to create a document that can serve as an historical document, which represents a specific school year. |
